Yes, Kennel Cough!

The vet just told us that there is a RESISTANT STRAIN OF KENNEL COUGH going around. Apparently, it is viral, so your dog's Bordetella shot won't protect him (bordetella is a bacteria, not a virus.)

It's kennal cough. My dogs have had it. Puppies often get
it and not to scare you but it can kill them. Even in adult dogs.
When you phone your vet, make sure you tell them you think
the dog has kennal cough, cause this is highly contagious to
other dogs. They will put you and your dog in a separate room so the other dogs can't get it. Your dog will be given
some pills, and they will help your dog feel better and the cough will go away within a few days.

Hard to say. Kennel Cough is more of a dry hacking cough. Problem is that Kennel Cough in itself is not so dangerous, but can lead to other Respiratory Infections. Has the pup been vaccinated for Kennel Cough? This is a separate vaccine, that many breeders don't give. This is typically done at 4-6 wks. of age, when buying from responsible breeder. I would call Vet's office in the morning, and get their advice. Respiratory Problems can be serious, particularily in puppies. Good Luck.

It sounds like the beginning of kennel cough, all right. Here's a site where you can read more about it:

http://www.chathamanimalrescue.org/kennelcough.shtml

You have the right idea in getting her to a vet as soon as you can.

Remember, it may NOT be kennel cough! We here at Yahoo can't really tell, because we're not vets and we don't have hands-on experience with your dog. But do read that site I gave you the URL for, and you'll know more about it and feel better about what you know.

Good luck! Hope she gets better soon!

It's more than likely either kennel cough or an upper respiratory infection. Both are not serious unless not taken care of. Antibiotics! My puppy had kennel cough when we brought him home from the pound. They thought it was an upper respiratory infection at the pound, but it was kennel cough. The Vet gave him an antibiotic & would you believe cough syrup.

Our lab just got through her round of meds for kennel cough and honestly, do not wait until it gets worse, because of the symptoms I really feel like you should get her in. Even though she may not seem sick in any other way, kennel cough doesn't alway appear "that bad", just a cough, maybe foam coming out (which was the case with our lab), sounding like they have a bone in their throat/coughing something up... Our lab too was playing fine, seemed healthy, ate, was drinking normally.
Get her looked at, if for nothing else, as precaution...

It could be kennel cough, or she could have swallowed something. This sounds like a good decision for a vet. If you have other pets please keep her isolated until you know for sure as Kennel Cough is as it's name suggests very contagious.

It sound like kennel cough. Almost all dogs that come from a shelter have it. Still it's best to talk to your vet. I don't think you need to rush your puppy to the vet unless she stops eating and/or becomes listless.
